What is safe body care?
Simply: If you wouldn’t eat it, don’t put it on your skin.
Common beauty and body products are loaded with tons of toxic chemicals. These businesses don’t care about you, they just care about selling their products. I read a stat somewhere that over a lifetime a person has about 300 pounds of toxic chemicals leeched into our bodies from products. These products include shampoo, conditioner, makeup, lotions, sprays, perfumes, deodorants, shaving creams, soap and more.
So what happens if our body is constantly exposed to these toxic chemicals?
Every person is different of course but it can disrupt hormones, affect fertility and menstruation, cause rashes, headaches, body aches and pains, it will affect liver function overtime, some can be carcinogenic and more. This happens slowly and over a lifetime. Our bodies are pretty resilient but if you could prevent this why wouldn’t you want to?
So ditch the drugstore products like Dove, Herbal Essences (OMG this was a huge brand when I was younger), antiperspirants like Secret, Covergirl, Neutrogena, Revlon (these all clog your pores).
My top brands:
Aveda hair care products
- (p.s it is extremely hard to find shampoos/conditioners without additives)
The Detox Market (great for finding natural products)
Shopping at health food stores are great alternatives and a good way to support your local stores. There are so many safe alternatives that don’t affect your body in negative ways regarding your health and wellness. Always read labels, educate yourself on safe products for you and your family.
